CA Foundation Syllabus for 2023 Exams With Proposed ICAI Changes
ICAI has brought about a few changes in the CA program. There are changes to the curriculum in order to conform it to International standards. The CA new scheme 2023 will be implemented in the Nov 2023 or May 2024 attempt. About The New CA Foundation Course for 2023
There are presently no requirements for the number of attempts required in the CA Foundation course. Therefore, students are offered unrestricted attempts. Additionally, the CA Foundation registration may be renewed several times.
In the suggested education and training programme, however, students may enrol after the 10th grade, and CA Foundation registration is effective for four years. Moreover, after four years, students can’t revalidate their foundation registration. Students at the Foundation level are eligible to take the CA Foundation examinations after completing a 4-month study session and taking the Class-12 examination.
If a student is unable to pass the Foundation Exam within four years of registration, he may choose an alternate path of direct entry into the Intermediate Course, provided they meet the requirements.
Also, there will no longer be enrollment deadlines such as January 1 and July 1 for the CA Foundation. Hence, this will allow ICAI to administer three exams every year.
New CA Foundation Syllabus 2023
The present CA Foundation syllabus consists of six subjects and four papers. ICAI has recently omitted two subjects from the new scheme: Business Correspondence & Reporting and Business & Commercial Knowledge.
So now, the CA Foundation syllabus is as follows:
- Paper 1: Principles and Practices of Accounting Syllabus
- Paper 2: Business Laws and Business Correspondence and Reporting Syllabus
- Paper 3: Business Mathematics and Logical Reasoning and Statistics Syllabus
- Paper 4: Business Economics and Business and Commercial Knowledge Syllabus
Students preparing for the June 2023 exams have to prepare as per the old syllabus. It is because the CA new syllabus will be implemented from the earliest Nov 2023 exams.
CA Foundation Exam Pattern
Exam patterns will help students in building their preparation strategy and study appropriately. Understanding the number of questions candidates must answer within a certain time range may assist candidates in calculating their average response time. Below is the CA Foundation exam pattern:
- The CA Foundation Exam has Four Subjects, each worth 100 marks, for a total of 400 marks
- Two subjects in CA Foundation are objective patterns and two are subjective.
- The mode of the exam is offline.
- Both Papers 1 and 2 are subjective, and Papers 3 and 4 are objective.
- Each incorrect response to an objective question carries a negative marking of 0.25.
- Students may take CA Foundation examinations in either English or Hindi medium except for Paper 2.
- Each paper is subdivided into parts with a predetermined estimated weighting of marks.
CA Foundation Evaluation Criteria
To pass the CA Foundation examination in 2023, a candidate must get a minimum of 40% in every paper and a total of 50% throughout all four subjects. Moreover, candidates who score below the ICAI-specified passing threshold will not be deemed successful. These candidates must retake the CA Foundation papers.
