Introduction to Chadar Trek
Chadar Trek is a winter trek in Ladakh. It is one of the most popular treks in India and has been a traditional route used by locals for centuries. The route is covered with a thick layer of ice, making it ideal for trekkers who want to explore snowy landscapes and enjoy breathtaking views.
Chadar Trek can be taken as part of any tour package or travel plan but we recommend you do it on your own because it offers an experience that’s hard to find anywhere else!
Location of Chadar Trek
Chadar Trek is located in Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is a frozen river in the winter and a meadow in the summer. The Chadar trek starts at an altitude of 13000 feet and ends at 13800 ft where you can enjoy some great views of snow-covered mountains that look like giant cones.
The climate during this time is cold with temperatures ranging from -30 Celsius to -15 Celsius during the winter months (December-February). During summers it gets warmer but remains cold at night due to the lack of sunlight illuminating this area for most of the year due to the low elevation above sea level which makes it extremely dark even though there’s no snowfall here unlike other parts northeast India which receives heavy snowfall during winters making them inaccessible till June/July depending on where you are based if travelling from Delhi city because most people opt out going up only after April when temperatures get warm enough so they don’t have issues getting down again until next year by which time everything has melted away leaving behind nothing but ice patches everywhere except on rivers flowing through them.”

Khardung La Pass is the highest motorable road in the world. It is located at an altitude of 5,359 m (17,582 ft) above sea level and connects Leh with Kargil via Sonamarg Pass. The pass was constructed between 1959-1962 by British engineers as part of their task to connect Srinagar with Leh via Zojila Pass; however, due to heavy snowfall during the winter months, it became impossible for them to complete their work on time. So instead they decided to build another route through Khardung La via Ghaziabad before completing this project later on by using Indian soldiers’ manpower and oxen carts as well as horses when needed.
